The American economic picture seems to be brightening up a little and maybe the European woes are settling down a little. So without that issue to complain about so much, the current crop of Republican candidates is having to switch to social issues. It presents a sad spectacle of men, some of whom probably don't believe what they are saying, falling in line with the pre-Enlightenment pronouncements of Rick Santorum.
The particular focus of these mis-informed men is the same battles against contraception that were fought in the early 1900s by Margaret Sanger and others. Why do they feel the need to re-fight those battles against women? It's a settled question isn't it? The great majority of women practice birth control - including Catholic women. It's only a reasonable thing to do. Let's get the focus of the embarrassing televised monologues back on things that really matter - such as the economy & war policy.
